Wiperblades.co.uk-backed Team VERTU consolidated its title contender status during Round 5 of the 2025 British Touring Car Championship after notching up a third win of the season at Oulton Park.
Tom Ingram scored his second victory in as many events with a dominant pole-to-flag victory in the first of three races around the Cheshire venue, before following it up with a pair of fourths in races two and three.
The results went a long way to strengthening his title hopes in what is increasingly looking like a two-horse race between himself and another former champion, Ash Sutton.
With the BTCC embarking on its summer break as it reaches the half-way point in the year, Ingram trails Sutton by just ten points after five rounds of ten, with a huge gap of 62 points back to his nearest rival in third overall.
In what was a strong weekend all round for the team, which Wiperblades.co.uk sponsors alongside its affiliated brands VERTU and Vansdirect, Ingram’s team-mates Tom Chilton and Adam Morgan added a podium each to the Excelr8 Motorsport-run team’s rostrum tally.
It means Team VERTU goes into the second-half of the season having already accumulated 16 podiums across its drivers.
“Yet again this weekend the car has been absolutely fantastic and I can’t be annoyed in any way with the pace we have shown,” Ingram said.
“In qualifying, it was just outrageous to grab pole and we were able to build on that in race one to score a second win of the season. To then take fourth on the hard tyre in race two was a big bonus but we got unlucky with the conditions in race three.
“We went for a more intermediate set-up on the car but the circuit didn’t dry as quickly as we expected and it was hard going in the early stages.
“We were vulnerable and when I dropped down the order it looked like it could be a disastrous end to the weekend, but we came back strong late on to climb back up the order.
“It’s bizarre that we’ve had such a strong weekend but have lost a point to Ash in the standings, which once again shows how tight it is at the top. We’ll be ready to come out fighting when battle continues after the summer break.”
