Wiperblades.co.uk-backed Team VERTU Back On Top at Croft BTCC

Wiperblades.co.uk-backed Team VERTU has soared to the top of the 2025 British Touring Car Championship standings after another successful race-winning weekend during Round 6 of the season at Croft

A third victory of the season for Tom Ingram sees the High Wycombe driver leapfrog arch-rival Ash Sutton in the fight for this year’s drivers’ title to assume the overall lead with only four events remaining.

One a very lucrative weekend all round for the Excelr8 Motorsport-run squad, Team VERTU came away with five podiums from the three races, results that put it on the cusp of the overall lead in the Manufacturer and Teams’ standings too.

Indeed, Ingram would once again prove Team VERTU’s talisman as he turned pole position into a comfortable race one victory, before consolidating his efforts with a run to second place in the final race of the day.

It means Ingram moves to the head of the drivers’ standings; eight points clear of Sutton. With 78-points back to third place overall, the 2025 BTCC title fight looks increasingly likely to come down to a two-horse race.

Ingram’s performance was consolidated by team-mate Senna Proctor achieving a pair of podiums in Race 1 and Race 3, while Tom Chilton ensured a Team VERTU would stand on the rostrum in each encounter with his run to second in Race 2.

“We’ve had a blinder of a weekend and with how the car and how the results have gone for us, it’s been a bit of a perfect storm really.

“The opening race of the weekend where we got the win and Ash had his problem is one of those where you have to really capitalise when the chance is there as we are never going to beat him in every race in the same way he isn’t going to beat us.

“Sometimes you have to admit defeat and sometimes you have to go on the attack, and that was a chance for us to attack.

“We did what we could to minimise our losses in race two, although obviously it’s a bit disappointing that we lost some points to Ash in the final race, particularly as I’d got the move done on him but then got caught up behind Aiden.

“However, given that the race around us was complete and utter carnage, I’m glad we came out of relatively unscathed!

“Coming in behind, we leave ahead with a big swing in the points, so it’s been a good weekend.”
